The ceremony was opened with a panel discussion consisting of Vjollca Islami Hajrullahu – Project Manager of forumZFD, Besian Beha – Journalist and trainer of the third module of the Academy, Feride Zeynullah - journalist, the discussion was facilitated by Getoarbë Mulliqi - Executive Director of AJK.
During the panel, the significance of training in reporting on Dealing with the Past (DwP) and Conflict Sensitive Reporting was emphasized, along with the important role of media and journalism in these realms. Discussions also revolved around how journalists can contribute to fostering a more informed, empathetic, and peace-centric public dialogue.
Moreover, Memorandums of Understanding were signed during the certification event with local media outlets from diverse communities, enabling participating journalists to produce articles about dealing with the past.
The Academy, started in March provided a series of training sessions covering reporting on dealing with the past, conflict-sensitive reporting, tackling fake news in historical contexts, and the media’s role in the reconciliation process.
The overarching goal of these sessions was to provide participants with the requisite skills and knowledge for effectively navigating conflict-sensitive journalism and handling sensitive historical narratives.
