forumZFD in Israel and Palestine
Since 1999 we have been working in the field of conflict transformation in Israel and Palestine. Our offices are in Sheikh Jarrah, East-Jerusalem and we are connected to the Willy Brandt Center located on the green line in AbuTor/A-Thuri. We work in a team of 16 colleagues (local and international).
In Israel we support our partners’ efforts to unite beyond traditional positions and to create new platforms for societal change. In Palestine we mainly support partners who foster young people’s voice for change. The work with our partners is on an eye-to-eye level and focusses on supporting their needs. Central to our approach is that we build networks between likeminded people, allowing them to strengthen and express their voice in a non-violent manner.
We offer expertise in civic conflict transformation with non-violent means. In our work we strive for long-term collaboration that is founded on trust, transparency and reliability. We focus on establishing long-term partnerships with local actors, assisting civic society actors in building bridges across social, political, religious and ethnic cleavages.
Our vision for all people between “the river and the sea” is to enjoy a self-determined life: free of fear, hate and oppression. Everyone should be able to make real choices for their own future.
Our work is mainly focused on:
- Capacity Development
- Coalition Building
- Outreach Activities
We consider women’s initiatives as particularly valuable in conflict transformation, and we base our work on the principles of gender and conflict sensitivity. In our daily work we apply the “Do No Harm Approach” to prevent harm to our staff, partners and the context.
We protect the identity and integrity of our partners. Therefore, partners are only listed on our website if this does not pose a threat to them personally or their capacity as an actor within his or her respective society. Our partners are mostly non-governmental organizations from Israel and Palestine. We are funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) that funds many Civil Peace Service organizations like forumZFD all around the world.
